Mother’s Day was the end result of the efforts made by Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. US President Woodrow Wilson signed the resolution on May 8, 1914. Since then the people all over the world have celebrated the event with joy and devotion. Mother’s Day is observed on the second Sunday in May every year. New Zealand celebrates the special occasion on the same day as the US. The idea of celebrating the event first originated in the US. It has adopted the commemoration based on the United States origin. The manner of celebrating the event is also very much similar to that of the US. They celebrate the occasion with great emotion and feeling. On this day people of the country express gratitude to their mothers and honor their esteemed efforts in bringing them up.
