Origin and History of Father’s Day in Argentina
In Argentina, Father’s Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of fatherhood. This day is used not only to honor your father but all men who have acted as a fatherly figure in life. Going back to the origin, the idea of detecting a day in the honor of father began in Spokane, Washington, by a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd. Sonora thought of the idea for Father’s day celebration when she was listening about Mother’s Day lecture in 1909. Having been raised by her father after her mother’s death, Sonora had a great respect for her father. In her father’s honor Sonora celebrated first father’s day in Spokane, Washington on June 19th, 1910. Later in the year 1926, A National Father’s Day committee was formed in New York and in 1956 Father’s Day got its recognition by Joint Resolution of Congress. In 1972, President Richard Nixon established Permanent Father’s Day which is held on third Sunday of June. Thus Father’s Day came into existence in memory of loving fathers.
