The Baisakhi festival is celebrated on 13th April every year by the people of Punjab and its neighboring states. This joyful festival marks the beginning of the harvest and spring season. Commemorated mainly by the Sikh community, Baisakhi marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year and hence, is one of the most significant holidays in the Sikh calendar. Apart from being the harvest festival, it was on the day of Baisakhi that Guru Govind Singh asked the Sikhs to devote their entire life towards saving and protecting their religion. The festivities include exchanging greeting with family and friends, enjoying traditional delicacies, and gifting presents.
